Promotional material is essential for authors with a book to sell
BCM will help you with author branding, and creating artwork print products (as well as your book, of course) that you can use to create greater awareness of your work.
What promotional material do I need?
That all depends on how you intend to market your book.
A professional speaker who is addressing live audiences three to four times a week will have different needs to a novelist whose primary audience is online and overseas.
Offline promotional material we recommend for all authors is business cards and postcards.
Business Cards & Postcards
Since it’s not convenient to go everywhere carrying a dozen copies of your book with you, why not give people the next best thing?
- Business/promotional cards are small enough to keep in your wallet. They should be double-sided with your book cover on one side, and your details (name, five-word blurb, web address, contact details) on the other.
- Postcards have exactly the same thing, except they are larger, and the reverse will give you the chance to add a full blurb. Some authors – fiction and non-fiction alike – also use QR codes so people can go straight to a webpage to buy your book.
Every time you talk to someone about your book, give them a postcard or business card.
Book signing events
Readers enjoy book signing events where they can meet favourite authors and new ones. You’ll find there are any number of them each year, no matter where you live. They’re often specific to book genres, such as romance or crime, or deal with a broad range of genres.
We can design attractive art that helps you make a splash, and recommend cost-effective printing solutions.
Again, depending on how you intend to market your book, we can assist with designing art and sourcing promotional items including:
- Banners
- Pens
- Notepads
- Stickers
- Bookstands
- Branded Table Runners
- Book Bags
- T-shirts, and
- Novelties (known as ‘swag’)
